Many people give up their dogs as a result of bad behavior or poor socialization when they were young.  Dogs are like babies, in that they do not automatically come with a manual when we acquire them.  We doggie parents need to make the time to teach our new furry children the proper way to behave and interact with the human community.  The initial time spent teaching your dog to be social and polite is the most important gift you can give to him/her.  All dogs are capable of being trained whether you bring home a new puppy or adopt an older dog.  Through consistency and love, you can enjoy a long, happy life with your new member of the family.
